The president of Ghana on the 3rd of January 2021 announced during his 21st Covid-19 update to the nation about the reopening of schools.

According to the announcement, The first-year students at the secondary level (SHS 1) will start class on 10th March 2021. All students will be on a single track from there onwards. Whiles students in SHS 2 and SHS 3 will return to school on the 18th January 2021.

Tertiary students will also reopen on 19th January 2021.

According to the President, the Ministry of Education will fumigate all schools before students' arrival as he assures parents of the safety of their wards amid the COVID-19 situation.

The president also further confirmed that the scientist in the country have not found any different Covid-19 Genome sequence
