The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh during his presence at the Parliament of Ghana to give updates and answer questions concerning education in the country says,

"We have in our focus on teacher reforms taken the necessary steps to upgrade all our Colleges of Education to university colleges to award Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), degrees, following a review of the teacher education curriculum into standards-based curriculum."

According to the education minister, the basic education level in the country is very critical to the future development of every child in the country.

Prior to this, the ruling government has also introduce a new allowance for the teachers to enrich their skills
